Terminal Cruise (Overview)

  • Prologue - Mastema and Belial just wanted to start an illicit harem of stars. Everybody does it. But they didn't count on finding a new kind of life as fully awake as the elohim.
  • 1. Belial - The nephilim were bred from human stock to survive conditions on Gorpai. Few of them took heed when a comet threatened to engulf the planet in the world-spanning First Deluge.
  • 2. Avatar - Brave Talishi alone stood fast when the avatar of Binah descended in flame to take her halfway across Gorpai. Agreeing to be possessed by Chokhmah seemed almost an afterthought.
  • 3. Chokhmah - In a world of constant violence Talishi brought a quieter feminine spirituality, yet her first disciple was a warrior, the prince of Salem.
  • 4. Melchizedek - When even the response to a Second Deluge fails to assure Belial of nephilim fidelity Melchizedek offers to help covenant the humans of Earth with El Shaddai.
  • 5. Abram - Melchizedek commands Abram to leave everything behind and journey to a land promised to him by El Shaddai, but Abram has one big loose end he refuses to let dangle.
  • 6. Law of Belial - Belial crafts a warrior-centric theocratic state in mockery of the teachings of Talishi, complete with combat to the death as the gateway to male adulthood.
  • 7. Isaac - With the marriage of Abram's son Isaac to a substitute mother, Rebbecca, Melchizedek fulfills his term of service to El Shaddai on Earth.
  • 8. The Trial - Talishi is put in the dock to answer for all her teachings which contradict the Law of Belial.
  • 9. Jacob - Possessing the body of a nephil, Belial challenges Abram's grandson Jacob to a fight, but bites off more than he can chew.
  • 10. Khondiel - The Amazons hatch a scheme to rescue Talishi from the clutches of Belial. But who will rescue the Amazons?
  • 11. Joseph - A son of Jacob must choose between dragging out a practical joke against his brothers, or letting his father, who feared he was dead, see him alive and prosperous.
  • 12. Moshe - El Shaddai hatches a scheme to rescue the Immigrants from the clutches of Pharaoh. But first he needs to raise the pain level of a truculent Pharaoh.
  • 13. The Knot - Khodiel enlists the aid of Melchizedek to get Talishi free, but the Gordian Knot represents a hitch in her plan, literally.
  • 14. Talishi - Talishi journeys throughout Gorpai, strengthening resistance against Belial on the eve of global war.
  • 15. Immigrants - The descendants of Abram take possession of the Holy Land at the direction of El Shaddai, but there are communication glitches.
  • 16. World War - No atrocity is too great as Belial makes his bid to render the House of Gerash supreme over all Gorpai.
  • 17. Israel - The northern tribes sow contempt for El Shaddai and reap dissolution.
  • 18. Nine Mile Wall - The world-spanning conflict on Gorpai reaches its grisly conclusion when Belial contrives a penalty to deter Chokhmah from meddling ever again.
  • 19. Judah - The remaining tribes of the Immigrants become the People of the Book, and surmount historical forces that would scatter them.
  • 20. Binah - The planet-dwellers insist on worshiping the elohim as creator gods. Binah decides the elohim should try their hand at actual, you know, creation.
  • 21. Roshites - A remnant of the Immigrants from each tribe colonize the western hemisphere of Earth, after a layover in the Land We Know.
  • 22. Bat-El - The daughter of El Shaddai takes her turn in the flesh of one of the humans and travels the Levant as a healer and teacher.
  • 23. Magistrates - Roshite history becomes ever more sordid as they forget El Shaddai and lose their way in the New World.
  • 24. The Execution - Yeshua Bat-El becomes an acute political problem for the Sadducees as they attempt the placate their Roman occupiers.
  • 25. Elamites - Yeshua's reform of the colony in the New World results in a true utopia,at least for a little while.
  • 26. The Way - The followers of Yeshua transform Judaism until it is hardly recognizable. Unfortunately, no one stopped to think the Jews might have a problem with that.
  • 27. Raziel - A logistics officer and his wife join the first nephilim foray into space, but they might not share the goals of their companions.
  • 28. Rome - Corruption and decay mar the teachings of Yeshua as time goes on, in Europe as it is in America.
  • 29. Comet - Talishi personally corrects a deliberate oversight by Belial that would have killed millions of nephilim in a Third Deluge.
  • 30. Malekwa - Binah enters human history at last, apppearing to certain descendantes of the Elamites, and bringing a very important gift.
  • 31. Pilgrims - The cross-country adventures of the kissing cousins in the Five Corners Good Book Church.
  • 32. Beaters - Not content to fill Gorpai with strife, the Five Families bring their arguments into outer space.
  • 33. Ambush - Chief Malekwa has himself a tussle with the United States Army Cavalry, and gets the pilgrims mixed up in it.
  • 34. Land We Know - Five genders, twenty-five sexual preferences, and each one with their own magic powers. A guide to the Land between the worlds.
  • 35. End Dome - Red Wing, White Wing, one church, and a rich land to settle.
  • 36. Lilith - Every story begins somewhere. For Lilith Gervasi, it was the southern coast of England during World War II.
  • 37. Kim - Before Binah became Round Robyn, there was a little girl named Kimberly Lokken.
  • 38. The Camps - The greatest warrioress in Femina Caelestis was forged in the crucible of the Holocaust, coming through unspeakable horrors.
  • 39. The Boda - They were friends for eternity, but eternity had a humble beginning.
  • 40. Zion - It was a nation created from nothing, surrounded by mortal enemies, a new homeland with little chance of prevailing. Lilith Gervasi thought it was perfect.
  • 41. Artifact - A group of children find out there's a reason why some things are kept locked up and hidden away.
  • 42. Thalury - When people thought the world was flat, they were afraid ships would sail over the edge. But what if the world really was flat?
  • 43. Clinic - Kim didn't feel sick, and the doctor insisted she wasn't contagious. So why was the door locked?
  • 44. Passing Phases - Sometimes adolescent sexuality is like throwing spaghetti on a wall, try everything, see what sticks.
  • 45. Hanford - High school girls really oughtn't be wandering around ground zero for the Manhattan Project late at night, might get shot.
  • 46. Nuptials - In which the human body that Binah is about to possess gets married
  • 47. Desecration - When the authorities learn of the Golden Gift and go looking for it, they leave a wee little mess.
  • 48. Temple of Binah - For their honeymoon, Jerry Shy Bear and Robyn wanted to get away from it all. Twenty-five trillion miles was just right.
  • 49. The Sharing - Hunky and Dory discover the Purple Cable makes a pretty darn good sex toy.
  • 50. Revolution - The men of Nath elevated reason over faith, but El Shaddai knew they were holding a shit hand and called their bluff.
  • 51. The Secret - Robyn shows Jerry the entire universe from the point of view of a living star, which he takes in stride. When she announces she's pregnant, Jerry is speechless.
  • 52. Inge - When Inge Hahn catches the Boda ransacking her home, there's only one thing to do, and that's to get Inge to join in the fun.
  • 53. Isle of Wight - When Robyn met Lilith, languishing at her father's lighthouse, she offered a ride to Israel, if Lil didn't mind sharing the ride with Robyn's baby on the flying saucer.
  • 54. Jill - Two Boda members sneak off and have an affair. They bond so closely it's just like they were one person.
  • 55. Roland - Jill comes clean about her father, Earl Roland, not an easy thing to do after covering for a man whose hands are dirty with torture and running a shadow government.
  • 56. Senate - Robyn and Jill get a chance to tell their side of the story to the US Senate, but it only gets them into even more trouble.
  • 57. The Interview - When Ed Conley conducted an interview, he did it old school, and would have made Torquemada proud.
  • 58. DECON - It was the Domestic Enemies Classification, Observation, and Neutralizaion Agency, but it was run but the biggest domestic enemies of all.
  • 59. Stampede - In which Femina Caelestis singlehandedly invents the genre of rock 'n' roll, five years early.
  • 60. Apostle - Some misguided theologies are so entrenched they cannot be rolled back, even in face-to-face consultations between the clergymen who teach them and the deity they purport to worship.
  • 61. Kibbutz - The IDF has a secret weapon in the perennial Arab-Israeli wars, a soldier who won't stay dead.
  • 62. Last Rites - Lilith Gervasi trades in her old shrapnel-ridden body for a new one, a pretty goy-l.
  • 63. Provider - When NASA's first rockets were doing belly flops on the ocean, Femina Caelestis was already assembling a spacecraft to visit a near-Earth asteroid.
  • 64. Fortuna - It was the first city on the moon, and the name Robyn chose for it reflected it's cost.
  • 65. Lawsuit - Never stand between a grieving family and a dead man's cash.
  • 66. Cryoscan - You've heard how Walt Disney had his head frozen upon his death, hoping to have it reattached to another body in the future? This is better.
  • 67. Joy - Not many children can say they grew up on the moon. Even fewer can say they did so before Neil and Buzz came calling.
  • 68. Six Days - Lilith wanted back into the Tzva Hahagana LeYisra'el. Her ticket for admission was the destruction of the entire Egyptian air force.
  • 69. Geezers - Femina Caelestis finds a new herd of cash cows, old farts with a lot of money and not much courage facing their demise.
  • 70. Sellout - In which Joy pays a friendly visit to the Apollo 17 expedition and explains why NASA doesn't need to fly any more missions there.
  • 71. Yom Kippur - The Arabs have just one more chance to destroy the colony of Jews on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea before they nuke up.
  • 72. SHe-3 - One time Robyn showed Jerry Shy Bear the big picture. Jerry returned the favor by showing Robyn the universe in a thimble of water.
  • 73. El Shaddai - When you talk to God that's prayer. When God talks to you, that's business as usual in Femina Caelestis.
  • 74. Europa - Sometimes the Navy of Belial needs to freshen up the Jovian colonists with a reminder they really need the benefits of the Empire after all.
  • 75. Midway - The double-lunar capture of the Midway asteroid was like showing off in a game of billiards, with a cue ball large enough to destroy half of New Jersey.
  • 76. White Rock - The Emperor wanted that greenhouse asteroid at all costs. Starkad would make it a very expensive transaction indeed.
  • 77. Tanish - The son of Terrel pulls together all the teachings of the religions of human and nephilim and jen into a grand synthesis every bit as disgusting as the source material.
  • 78. Summit - For the first, last, and only time, the leaders of Earth, Gorpai, and the Land We Know meet in a single place, and the ramifications will echo forever.
  • 79. Grid - Another FC poke in the eye for the US government, an entirely new kind of broadcasting technology they can't even understand, let alone control.
  • 80. Project Hope - There's a cancer growing in Femina Caelestis and its name is Gina. Robyn proposes a radical solution but it will take years to unwind.
  • 81. Entranced - Every big war has its Fort Sumter, its Pearl Harbor. For the war between Femina Caelestis and the United States, it was a Hunky-Dory concert near Los Angeles.
  • 82. Brand - The son of Joy has masculinity issues an organization named Femina Caelestis is simply not equipped to address, and the only solution is to leave
  • 83. Jabs - Brand fell head-over-heels in love with Jabniel, and sha wasn't even human. But her father's price for her hand in marriage was even more inhuman.
  • 84. Saturn - Water is gold in the Solar System, and the rings of Saturn are a mother lode. But like any other human enterprise, there are parasites and to spare.
  • 85. Crossing - Babysitting a snowball for years is not the most exciting thing to do, so to liven things up, Brand and Jabniel make a baby.
  • 86. Ceres - The asteroid Ceres is to the moon in size as the moon is to the Earth, yet it was the biggest place young Victoria ever visited. There was even gravity!
  • 87. Victoria - This was business and Roth Wardian took it personally. Unfortunately for him, nothing would get Femina Caelestis riled up like kidnapping Joy's granddaughter.
  • 88. Mercury - The Russians were given very lucrative gifts at the Summit, so they took a very jaundiced view when Robyn needed some of them.
  • 89. Venus - When smuggling a robot through a hard-line Islamic society that forces women and girls to cover themselves head to toe, one only needs to work on the eyes.
  • 90. Andrews - If Femina Caelestis waltzed into DECON like it was made of swiss cheese, what makes the government think Andrews Airbase would be better?
  • 91. Vicky - Victoria was a hermaphrodite jen in a world of monosexed humans, but the real source of her unhappiness was her father's attempt to break himself and his family clean away from FC.
  • 92. Boot Camp - Basic training is mostly nothing but mind games, Femina Caelestis admits. But if you really want to live forever, it's the only game in town.
  • 93. Hope - Hers' may have been the shared childhood of millions of entities later, but there really was a first time through once upon a time.
  • 94. Bravo - Belial needed to get Lilith out of the picture. Starting another Arab-Israeli war was a surefire way to do so.
  • 95. Air War - The moon may not have an atmosphere, but some traditions dating back to the days of the Red Baron cannot be denied.
  • 96. Suez War - Lilith fought for Israel in every major tussle, and put up with a lot of crap along the way, but this is the straw that breaks the camel's back.
  • 97. Moon War - Belial thought human females would be a pushover in combat. Femina Caelestis quickly showed him the error of that assumption.
  • 98. Mission - Five top guns in the Navy of Belial are personally recruited by Talishi-Chokhmah and Yeshua Bat-El to crew the frigate Exiler.
  • 99. Briefing - The Exiler is sent to investigate and neutralize, if possible, Belial's rumored "star killer", for El Shaddai and Bat-El have both taken ill.
  • 100. Exiler - It was a dependent's "Tiger Cruise" from Hybla-Dia to the Land We Know, so naturally things started out a bit crowded.
  • 101. Menkal - King Stronghammer accepts the dependents of Exiler for safekeeping, but one of the Eyes of Belial grows suspicious at this breach of protocol, for Belial threatened dependents to ensure loyalty.
  • 102. Rogziel - The chief aide to Belial re-enters his service and is tasked to command Exiler to embark on a breathtakingly cynical mission
  • 103. Rhene - If there really was a hell in this universe, Rhene was a good candidate. But some of the inmates are so stupid they need to be asked twice to leave.
  • 104. Xanthos - The healing hot springs of Xanthos were justifiably famous but Iron Fist, the local crime syndicate, forgot the first law of the parasite, don't kill your own host.
  • 105. Arioch - He was one of Belial's best spies in the court of King Stronghammer, but his real forte was amid the endless machinations in the court of Belial himself.
  • 106. Proxima - Jerry Shy Bear did his best work in Binah's lab, and now a nephilim nobleman has made the greatest discovery of all there, whether by human, nephilim or elohim.
  • 107. Abduction - In Hebrew mythology, Lilith was a she-demon who kidnapped children in the middle of the night. They might have been on to something.
  • 108. Balloon - In a forgotten corner of McWorld, Lilith shows Hope a supersized balloon.
  • 109. The Council - The monarchs of the Land We Know finally realize they've been screwed by a republic whose sole business model is selling arms to those very same monarchs.
  • 110. Search - Sheriff Vic had dealt with missing person cases before. But she never counted on it happening to her own daughter.
  • 111. Interlude - When Queen Alodra adjourns the Council for a long lunch break, some of the attendees kill time doing the first thing that comes to mind.
  • 112. Freeball - The gals of Femina Caelestis love their Freeball and hate to be distracted when they're watching a game. And that's exactly what Lilith was counting on.
  • 113. Dragonthorn - If the Menkal princess remains a virgin, then Demonstick remains under control. But that's a pretty dang big if.
  • 114. The Choice - Hope demonstrates that the essence of being human is the power to anchor a new chain of effects without a prior cause.
  • 115. Nyduly - Regrouping across the river, the royals lick their wounds and hatch a plan that sounds like it came from a booby hatch.
  • 116. Escape - Getting off Midway is only the beginning. There's still a task force of ships captained by Bunners to plow through.
  • 117. Invasion - In a broad attack, the monarchies learn that Blackseed wasn't bluffing when he said he reserved the best weaponry for Nath. A dragon for one thing.
  • 118. Mars - On the Red Planet, Hope's artificial body gets a rather grown-up makeover. Robyn and Lilith break the new stuff in.
  • 119. Menkal The shards of Dragonthorn are re-hallowed with Vic standing in, but there are the usual jen jokes.
  • 120. Ganymede - Exiler makes a clean getaway to Ganymede nearside, where Robyn calls in a very old marker.
  • 121. The Arrangement - There's an old saying that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. But this was over the top.
  • 122. Wazol - Traipsing along the face of a 25,000 foot sheer cliff wall is a game for the young, so the Royals split up.
  • 123. Miranda - School-boy jokes aside, Uranus is pretty safe and obscure place to hide the archives of Femina Caelestis. And here the first dividends of Project Hope are paid.
  • 124. Sadl - The strip of Alodra south of the River Sabik has always been controversial, but now it is, without controversy, the only piece of Alodra left unoccupied by Nath.
  • 125. Triton - The starship wasn't nearly as fast as Exiler but she was Binah's ace in the hole. When she got underway, Belial was doomed no matter what else happened.
  • 126. Cleverstep - Che was a jen who knew a way to traverse the Glob Nab, but to Vic, the biggest hazard was keeping hezself from jumping on hem.
  • 127. Citadel - Eleven miles long, protected by all the lasers on Mercury, what was it shooting into space every few seconds, and why.
  • 128. Patrol - Commodore Lahatiel must choose between splashing a friendly or blowing his cover.
  • 129. Land of the Dead - In the Land We Know, purgatory is a real place, with one hell of a view.
  • 130. Nova Sol - Robyn discovers Belial is trying to kill the living suns El Shaddai and Bat-El by giving them heatstroke.
  • 131. Mount Fatho - It was the highest prominence west of the Glob Nab wall, riddled with treacherous ice fields, but anything was better than Cleverstep's catwalk.
